Katie Cochrane Honored as BMC's First "Nominate a Nurse" Winner
Congratulations to Kathleen “Katie” Cochrane as Boston Medical Center’s inaugural “Nominate a Nurse” contest winner! Entries were submitted by BMC patients, explaining why their favorite caretaker should be chosen.
“It is with utmost pleasure that I nominate Kathleen M. Cochrane of the Day Surgical Unit on Moakley 2. Exceptional is the perfect adjective to describe this kind and caring nurse!” said Oliver Kelley, one of Katie’s past patients. Oliver’s story of meeting and forging a friendship with Katie was a heartwarming tribute to the outstanding work BMC’s nurse do, every day.
“After sharing some family stories, many laughs, and even a few tears, we parted with a hug. Over the past 18 months, I have had more procedures done at Moakley. Although Katie hasn't been my nurse for these, she always welcomes me with her beautiful smile and very often a "goodie" bag for the ride home. How sweet is that? It is evident with each visit that her co-workers respect and care very much for her also. Not only is she an asset to her profession and to Boston Medical Center, I am privileged to now consider her a dear friend,” said Oliver.
Boston Medical Center is proud to celebrate the role our nurses play in delivering the highest level of quality care to our patients. We received many nominations from patients whose lives have been touched by BMC nurses. Each nominated nurse received a card letting them know that words of praise were submitted on their behalf. Our nursing staff provides care for countless patients and families: helping them heal, and offering the highest levels of comfort during their time at BMC.
Thanks to all who participated in this year’s contest, and congratulations to Katie!
