About SIDS: What We Do Know

Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) is the term used to describe any sudden unexpected death of an infant whether explained or unexplained (SIDS). The distinction between SIDS and other SUIDs is challenging. A thorough case investigation, including autopsy, death scene investigation, review of infant’s medical history, is required. Death is quiet and silent; sleep related; infant found in all sleeping positions and in all locations.
